Caring Team
Our Role in
In response to God’s love and care for all people, our team assists our congregation in reaching out to its neighbors ( in our church, local community, and world) in order to show, tell, and build up others in God’s love.
“Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest? “ Jesus answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the law and prophets.” (Matthew 22: 36-40, NRSV)
The Caring Team of Our Saviour Lutheran Church encourages and develops ministries to build-up, show, tell, and share God’s love with church members and those in our local and worldwide community. Because of God’s love shown in our baptism into Christ’s death and resurrection, we are set free from a life of self-centeredness to live a new life patterned after Jesus’ greatest commandment of love toward God and neighbor.
Build-up - Every Christian needs to again and again experience the embrace of God’s love in their lives and feel the warmth of a loving Christian community. The Caring Team develops and encourages ministries of Christian care-giving, a prayer shawl ministry, a prayer chain ministry, a funeral meal ministry, fellowship ministries, and small groups that give our members a place to experience God’s love in various points in their faith journey.
Show, Tell,
and Share - As Christians experience God’s love in their lives, they
discover that such love calls them to respond with love toward God and
all creation. Our Evangelism
task group invites us to show hospitality toward members and visitors,
care for congregation members in their faith journey, tell others the
good news of what God is doing in our ministries, and share with others
how welcome they are in God’s community at Our Saviour.
Our Social Ministry task group and
The Caring Team’s work in our congregation assists us in going deep into the loving waters of our baptism by living the whole of our lives in response to God’s love.
