Auf Wiedersehen
All our German friends have safely arrived home by now. They really
enjoyed their trip over here, meeting all the people from this wonderful
congregation. and taking various sightseeing trips, i.e. Washington
D.C., visiting the Cathedral and various museums; Baltimore, visiting
Inner Harbor and Fort McHenry; Gettysburg, visiting Civil War Area; side
trip to Spring Grove Valley Church (Jerry Hokes Home town) where we were
served a soup and sandwich supper and the Germans gave a surprise
concert; Lancaster, visit an Amish Farm and shop at Amish stores; Boat
trip to Tangier Island with the most beautiful weather of all the days
we traveled. We enjoyed the friendship on the bus which gave us the
opportunity to meet and get to know our friends better, and the Germans
singing their favorite German folksongs. Everyone participating had a
great time. Thanks to all of you who opened their home and hearts to our
friends. Special thanks to our friends who helped with the Welcoming
Coffee, the Oktoberfest, the Potluck Dinner, Concert and farewell (which
was not without tears), purchasing and wrapping the gifts for our German
friends and making all the name tags. Please, see the OSLC website and
the German Corner at church for some pictures. God Bless your friendship
and generosity Elfie and Frank Schmid
